FIV + CATS - What you NEED to knowFIV_Cats.html

Sometimes, a couple of letters can make a world of difference is a cats chance for adoption.  FIV or Feline Immunodeficiency Virus affects somewhere between 3-15% of all cats.  Those who have tested positive for the virus, sadly, have almost no chance of finding homes.  Mostly because of fear and lack of information, people opt to stay away from FIV+ cats.  But they really have nothing to fear!

At the Lange Foundation, we know these FIV+ cats have as much love and affection to give as any other cat.  If cared for properly, an FIV+ cat can live a long, healthy life.  Yet sadly, people still walk right on past these fantastic  cats.

Fostering - Animals in Need

We often need families or individuals who are willing to open their homes for animals in need. Foster care is most frequently needed for shelter animals that have special medical needs and need extra attention. On occasion, we need folks to take care of bottle babies that require round the clock care. Sometimes we just need foster homes for those who have just been here for a long time, overlooked by adoptive families and need a break from kennel life. Foster families are an important part of animal rescue. Fosters are able to provide the much need love and shelter, while Lange provides the food and any medical expenses.

If you are interested in learning more about fostering an animal or if you would like to meet some our animals in need of fostering, please call or come by and visit.

Pets have a way of putting a smile on your face and a spring in your step.

Not only do animals give you unconditional love, but they have been shown to be psychologically, emotionally, and physically beneficial.

Caring for a companion animal can provide a sense of purpose and fulfillment and lessen feelings of loneliness and isolation in all age groups.

Angelique

Angelique is a kitten who has spent her life in a cage. This beautiful tortie girl needs a family who will love her, even with her special needs. Angelique tested positive for the feline coronavirus and due to risk of passing the virus onto other cats, she has had to stay in a cage by herself. For a while, Angelique had a kitten friend who also had coronaviris. Both of them would snuggle together and groom each other. Her friend was adopted in early December 2011 and Angelique has been alone ever since. She is a wonderful kitten who responds to any attention with grateful purrs and gentle cuddles. She will make the tiniest mrrrorw noises as she rolls over and bumps her head against your hands for affection. Anqelique has a soft, plush coat that looks like autumn leaves. With her little round face and big gold eyes, Angelique looks like an baby owl. Angelique needs a home without other cats or with cats that have the coronovirus. If you are interested in meeting Anqelique, please contact the West Los Angeles Halfway Home at info@langefoundation.org or 310-473-5585.

Animal lover and author, Richard Wanderer has been a long time supporter of the Lange Foundation.  He’s raised dogs from the foundation, supports their causes and makes financial donations every year.  This year, he wanted to do a little more, so with the release of his new suspenseful novel The Holiday Party: A Tale of a Corporate Takeover, Mr. Wanderer will be donating 20% of the proceeds from the book to the Lange Foundation.

The book is available on Amazon, some local bookstores and at the book’s website www.theholidayparty-ataleofacorporatetakeover.com
